Cost: FREE (Tea & Coffee plus lunch provided)
Presenter is Nick Romanowski, Freshwater and wetland ecologist and Dragonfly Aquatics nursery. This will be a practical workshop with freshwater sampling exercise catching freshwater crayfish, shrimps etc. It wil cover:
- The role of invertebrates as indicators of river health
- An awareness of general river health issues, native fish species and their habitat requirements found in the Otways.
- The impact of introduced species such as redfin, trout & gambusia and also weeds.
- Principles of waterway ecology & management
- What links exist between streamside and submerged vegetation and the health of the native fish populations?
