Presenter is Nick Romanowski, Freshwater and wetland ecologist and Dragonfly Aquatics nursery. This will be a practical workshop with freshwater sampling exercise catching freshwater crayfish, shrimps etc. It wil cover:

• The role of invertebrates as indicators of river health
• An awareness of general river health issues, native fish species and their habitat requirements found in the Otways.
• The impact of introduced species such as redfin, trout & gambusia and also weeds.
• Principles of waterway ecology & management
• What links exist between streamside and submerged vegetation and the health of the native fish populations?
